Crystal Palace Football Club is a Premier League team based in Croydon, south London, managed by Patrick Vieira. Their origins lie in the Crystal Palace team founded in 1861, making them the oldest league club still playing professional football; they are also founding fathers of the Football Association and FA Cup. Palace became a professional outfit in 1905 and first reached England’s top tier in 1969. The club’s history since has been one of eventful promotions and relegations mostly between the top two leagues, iconic managers, often home-grown players, and memorable moments made all the more unique by their fanbase, widely regarded as one of football’s best. Palace enjoyed a particularly successful spell when then-manager Steve Coppell guided them to the 1990 FA Cup final and third place in the 90/91 top-flight, and they were founding members of the Premier League in 1992/93. Three years after a consortium led by Steve Parish took over in 2010, Palace earned promotion to the Premier League and have remained there since. As of 2021/22, they are in their ninth consecutive season at the top of English football.
