The Clube de Regatas do Flamengo is a club located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Known as "The Most Loved", the club was founded in 1895, when rowing was known as the favorite sport in Rio. However, several years later, football started to gain popularity and became one of the sports of higher interest in the state. With that, Flamengo created, on November 8th, 1911, their Department of Land Sports. From then on, Flamengo, destined to be the protagonist, showed that they were also a club that developed athletes in olympic sports, such as: rowing, soccer, volleyball, basketball, swimming, water polo, artistic swimming, canoeing, judo, and gymnastics. A lot of those athletes, on top of bringing joy to the 42 million fans of Flamengo's Nation, also represented Brazil, at the Olympic Games. For those, and other reasons that Flamengo, a club accustomed to winning, became a reference in all national sports.
