Hashtag United - Men’s Player of the Month: February 2024
It’s that time again; time for you to pick your Hashtag men’s standout performer for February!
February was a much better month than January for The Tags, with 1 win, 3 draws and 2 defeats, albeit one of those losses coming against a pro side. We beat National League South side Aveley in the Essex Senior Cup, and then went on to lose valiantly against Colchester United in the semi. The month in the league started with a narrow defeat against Horsham, but then saw 3 consecutive draws against Carshalton Athletic, Wingate & Finchley and Whitehawk. Over these games we scored 7 and conceded 8.
You’ve got until 6pm GMT on Sunday 10 March to vote, and as ever, the nominees have been selected by a panel at the club. Your choices are:
Jermaine Anderson
What a start to his Tags career! Jermaine joined us from Potters Bar Town in time to make his debut against Aveley and has impressed at RB ever since, bagging the MOTM against Wingate & Finchley.
Tomo Anderson
November’s Player of the Month Tomo (no relation!) is back from injury…and back in the nominations! He returned as a sub against Aveley, was MOTM against Whitehawk, and his reappearance in the team is undoubtedly a key reason for our uptick in form.
Sam Cornish
Sam picked up the MOTM on his return to Colchester United, and played every minute of the 5 games after Horsham. He’s often unlucky to be rotated in what’s now a very strong midfield, but whenever he plays we know he’ll bring his A game.
Sak Hassan
Sak’s had another great month after being named our POTM in January. An ever-present throughout Feb, he bagged 3 assists and his mazy runs caught the eye again on the highlights. It’s just a shame we’re due to lose him again on international duty!
It's time to vote for your Hashtag Men's Player of the Month, this time for December. Your choices are:
LUKE MAY-PARROTT - What a signing! Making the step up 2 divisions, the Parrott has hit the ground FLYING with 9 goal contributions in just 6 appearances, with only 2 of those from the start. A terrific first month for the youngster!
MAX CORNHILL - From youth to experience for our next nominee, and veteran midfielder Max has been back at his best recently, scoring his first goal of the season in the 4-1 away win on Boxing Day, and providing 2 assists as well this month, narrowly missing out on several MOTM awards.
NATHAN SMITH - Another experienced player makes the nominations list this month and it’s a man who has been nominated more times than anyone else this season: LB Nathan Smith. Another couple of assists for him this month as well as an MOTM make him a strong contender yet again for the overall monthly award!
MATT WOOLDRIDGE - Back to another youngster, but one who is just a few appearances away from being the Tags' all-time appearance record holder! In December Matty bagged a couple of goals and an assist to earn himself a nomination.
It’s that time again; we’re asking you to vote for your Hashtag men’s player of the month for November, a month which saw 3 wins, a draw and a solitary…and unlucky loss! We’ve progressed in the Essex Senior Cup, are sat within touching distance of the play-offs and have strengthened the squad further, so our panel had a tough time picking their shortlist. We’ve only conceded 4 goals so it’s no surprise to see more defensive-minded players making the cut. Your job is to pick the winner; you’ve got until Saturday 15:00 GMT to vote, when our December campaign starts.
TOM ANDERSON
Tomo’s had another solid month, and is really benefiting from more regular minutes. He’s played 4 times in Nov, totalling 360 minutes, scoring 1 goal and keeping 1 key clean sheet.
MAX CORNHILL
4 games, 360 minutes, 1 clean sheet…and another black eye! Max always gives everything for the badge and but for an inch here or there could have seen himself on the scoresheet this month.
HARRY HAYSOM
Tomo’s CB partner has stepped up again, playing 427 minutes over 5 games, and overseeing 2 clean sheets.
JOSH STRIZOVIC
Josh has excelled since coming in from Dagenham & Redbridge as a temporary replacement for Ted Curd. He’s played every minute in Nov, keeping 2 clean sheets and winning MOTM in our last game at Cheshunt. We’ll be sorry to see him go!
It’s time to vote for your Hashtag men’s Player of the Month, this time for October. Your choices are:
Harry Haysom - The club named Harry as vice captain this month and since then H has been in great form, despite results not going our way. He earnt himself POTM in the 1-1 draw with high flying Chatham and could end this month nicely with his first player of the month award of the season.
Misha Djemaili - A man that has had to wait for his chance, but with 3 goals elevating him to 4 for the season (& joint top scorer), Misha has more than earnt his game time of late.
Nathan Smith - The only man to have been nominated in September and October, one could argue that Nathan has also been our most consistent player this season. With 2 more MOM awards in October, as well as an assist for AT's equaliser against Whitehawk, Smudge has impressed yet again this month.
It’s time again to vote for your Hashtag men’s Player of the Month, this time for September. This month has seen the Tags play 5 with 3 of them coming in as wins. Your choices are:
TED CURD 17 year old Ted joined the club at the start of September on loan from premier league club Chelsea and since then has impressed between the sticks! In his 5 games at the club he has 3 clean sheets to his name as well as a player of the match award.
NATHAN SMITH - Experienced defender Nathan has been a consistent feature this season at left back, with his impressive form of late seeing him start all 5 matches this month. Like Ted he has also been a part of the defence that's kept 3 clean sheets, winning 3 games in the process.
ALFIE CUE - Alfie joined the club at the start of this month alongside Ted, featuring off the bench in the 1-0 FA Cup win over Brentwood where he was heavily involved in the goal. Alfie started his first game for the club against Needham in a defeat, but it was the final 2 games of the month that we saw his quality. Alfie struck twice against Wingate, before adding his third Hashtag goal against Carshalton last week. In both of those games he earned the player of the match award, completing an impressive debut month!
TOMO ANDERSON - Tomo is often a regular feature as a nominee and this month is no different. Having played 4 matches in September Tomo scored in the comeback versus Kingstonian and was impressive in both the clean sheets against Wingate & Brentwood.
Good luck picking from these 4 nominees!
It’s time for you to have your say on Hashtag’s first men’s Player of the Month award for the 23-24 season! Remember The Tags have stepped up again and are now playing in the Isthmian Premier Division, and have had a solid start to life there, with 1 win, 3 draws and a defeat in August. We’ve scored 6, conceded 6, and have 6 points…
The management team have selected the shortlist below and it’s up to you to pick the winner. Votes close at 2pm on Saturday 2 September so you need to vote quickly!
Tom Anderson
Tomo’s only played 2 and a half games thus far, but a Man of the Match performance against Folkestone shows he’s one of the reasons we’re looking (mostly) tight at the back. If he finds his shooting boots again, defences beware!
Alexis André Jr
Our TST keeper Alexis has come in as a favour for the short term, deputising for the injured Philpsy for the last 3 games. He conceded 3 against Hornchurch last time out but before that kept two clean sheets against Bognor Regis and Folkestone Invicta.
Sam Cornish
New signing Sam has had a great start to life at the club, with a goal and a Man of the Match award in August, and he’s already an instrumental force in the middle, often forming the Cornfield with Max!
PK Humble
PK has come back lean, mean and ready to jinky mi jink around oppo defences this season! He’s started every game so far, notched two assists and even more highlight reels.
Hashtag United are a one-of-a-kind football and esports club, based in Essex, England. Formed in 2016 by Spencer Owen as a group of friends playing exhibition games, for two years they travelled the world and even played at Wembley Stadium in front of thousands of fans, with the whole adventure played out on YouTube. In 2018 the club moved into the world of non-league football, entering at the 10th tier, and won their league at the first attempt. After two curtailed seasons due to Covid, the club’s points tally saw them awarded another promotion and the men now play in the 8th tier, the Isthmian League North. In 2020 the club merged with a local women’s team who now play in the FA Women’s National League Division One South East, the 4th tier of the women’s pyramid.
